Q: Who can get financial aid?
A: Students who are eligible and who are registering for an eligible program. To determine eligibility, students must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online to the Financial Aid office.

Q: How do I apply?
A: Applications are done online at www.fafsa.ed.gov . Students should contact the Financial Aid office at 239-377-0917 for additional information and to sign up for a financial aid workshop.

Q: Can I get a student loan?
A: No. LWIT only offers grants and scholarships to eligible students. Most students who would qualify for loans also qualify for federal Pell Grants, which do not have to be repaid. Students may also qualify for additional funding through Vocational Rehab, the Career and Service Centers of Southwest Florida, and other organizations.

Q: What sorts of scholarships are available?
A: A range of scholarships are available, funded by local civic organizations, the Lorenzo Walker Family, and a nonprofit Foundation supporting our school. Additionally, Florida-generated Bright Futures Scholarships may be used at LWIT.

Q: When should I apply?
A: Students should apply for financial aid by the priority deadline - no later than 25 school days prior to the beginning of a semester (Final deadline - five days prior to semester start) to determine eligibility prior to registration.

Q: Why don't you offer financial aid for every class?
A: Financial aid resources are limited. Financial aid is offered for what are considered "high wage" vocational certificate classes. We do not offer financial aid for part time study, because most students in this category are working already.
