TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) Test
Q: What is the TABE test and why do I have to take it?
A: It is the Test of Adult Basic Education required by the Florida Department of Education. It is used to help us understand your current academic abilities so we can prepare an appropriate program for you.
Q: Where can I study for the TABE before I take the test?
A: Local bookstores sell TABE and GED preparation books, as does our campus bookstore. The public library also has GED books. You can study the Language, Reading and Math sections. We also offer, for a charge, GED preparations on our on-line classes.
Q: How and when can I take the TABE test?
A: The TABE test is given on Tuesday and Thursday at 8:15 a.m. and at 6:00 p.m. Please call to make sure the test if being given on the day you are interested in attending and that there is space available.
Q: What materials (pencil, paper, calculators)should I bringwhen Itake the TABE test?
A: ALL testers must show legal picture identification.One of the following
- Florida driver's license
- Florida ID card
- current passport
- military ID
Q: What do I do if I didn't pass the TABE test?
A: We have remedial instruction classes available in both the day and evening.
Q: Why do I have to wait six weeks before retesting if I don't pass?
A: In order to insure you have had adequate time to study and to bring up your scores.
