Career research and counseling can lead you on the path to a rewarding career. Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions we face – as a student, as a worker seeking a career change or as an individual entering the workforce after an absence.

Employment Services for Students and Employers

The placement specialist provides a no-cost link between employers who wish to hire qualified applicants and students who are actively seeking full or part-time employment in their chosen career. A team approach involving the placement specialist, the instructor, and program advisory committee members provide up-to-date information about employment trends. The LWIT placement specialist assists the student with their job search activities - job placement is not guaranteed.

Employment Services for Students

  • Job vacancies are posted daily on the "Employment Opportunities Bulletin Boards" located in the cafeteria of building #1. Vacancies are also forwarded to the program instructor for posting in the classroom.
  • Students make direct contact with the employer to set-up an interview.
  • Two computers and a fax machine are located in the Student Services Department for student's use with their job search activities.
  • Assistance with:
    • job search tips and techniques
    • resume and cover letter preparation
    • job application completion
    • the interviewing process
    • networking and more

Employer Employment Vacancies Posted

Lorenzo Walker Institute of Technology (LWIT) provides a no-cost link between employers who wish to hire qualified applicants and students who are actively seeking full or part-time employment. A team approach involving the Employment Advisor, the instructor, and program advisory committee members provide up-to-date information regarding employment trends. The LWIT Employment Advisor assists the student with their job search activities.

LWIT is committed to the principles of equal education and employment opportunities without regard to race, color, sex, religion, creed, handicap, or national origin as provided by law. The principles will apply in the referral of potential job applicants for your listed vacancy.

Vacancies will be posted for two (2) weeks unless notified by you or your representative to either cancel or extend the request. Employment opportunities will be posted on our Job Board and shared with the program instructors. Individuals interested in applying for the position will contact your company directly.
An employer may use the LWIT Employment Opportunity form or design their own.

Postings can be sent via:

  • Provide printed material and/or electronic link about your organization
  • Announce your special events such as an open house, recruitment fair
  • Set-up an information table in cafeteria during lunch to speak with students about current or potential job openings.

Tours
